Virginia Tech
So as I sit here and read all the news about this tragic day that Virginia Tech and others have faced, I wonder if the story is already on Wikipedia. So I go and search for “Virginia Tech” and this pops up.

So I click on Virginia Tech shootings and receive this notice.
Many people have come together to write about this horrific tragedy. There is a description of events, information about the gunman, reactions, a timeline, upcoming events, comparison to other shootings, and references.
Many people are writing their thoughts and experiences they faced today on the discussion board. Some are writing about the gunmans intentions. Others are just trying to work together to get the facts on the page. Here is the link to the discussion board. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Virginia_Tech_shootings. I found it quite interesting.
Of course, there has already been vandalism on the wiki. Someone apparently said that “over 9000 have been killed.” This has been fixed. I think it is fascinating how technology allows us to come together and share information. My prayers will be with Virginia Tech.
It seems as if everything — web 2.0 — has been affected in some form or fashion by this tragic event. Social networking, blogs, and even wikis. It seems as if the majority turns to the internet first to find out information as well as comment and grieve.
Posted 2 years, 6 months agoGood blog entry, Angelica. I agree also with your comment, Tiffany.
One clarification: The “Talk” section of the Wikipedia entry is not for general discussion, but rather: “This is the talk page for discussing improvements to the Virginia Tech massacre article. This is not a forum for general discussion about the article’s subject.”
Have you found other sites or forums where there’s general discussion of the shootings?
